Coffee Culture and Traditions

Jericó a Masterpiece

Jericó: The Cradle of Coffee in Colombia

Jericó is a magical place for coffee. It was the cradle of the coffee culture in Colombia. From its founding, this place had been envisioned to be the region’s capital, and it was coffee that moved the local economy. Through history, our heroes carefully chose the best place to grow coffee; and with the local entrepreneurs, developed the most recognized coffee culture in all of Colombia.

It is not only the coffee ability but also the heritage that defines “paisas” (people from the region). All that has now become indispensable: the hats, traditional outfits, even the mules and horses that go along with our folklore. Nowhere else in the world will you listen to the stories of the muleteer (Arriero) trotting the world with their Jericoano carriel filled with coffee.

In Jericó, the act of drinking coffee feels like some kind of an art performance. The flavour it bears, the aroma it upholds, the cup served lovingly—just another few spur-of-the-moment variables in the miscellany that the experience is. Being in the cradle of this rich culture, surrounded by vibrant colours, a silent atmosphere, scenic hills, and the friendliness of its people just takes the experience to another level.

That you will find in our village: characters of all colours and tastes that will dare your palate and challenge your senses so you can get an excellent cup of coffee like nowhere else. Here we will tell you the story of coffee and our heroes, inviting you to be part of this tradition.

La Nohelia

Run by John and Rosmary, La Nohelia tells the story of a four-generation family obsessed with coffee. They are the owners of a wonderful place that has been in existence for over a decade. Together with Luna, who is the heiress to this legacy, they offer day-to-day coffee, zipline, and waterfall experiences. They share with each of their guests the best stories of the Jericoano, and the feats of our ancestors. Three-hour coffee experiences and even the possibility to book weekly courses in partnership with other local coffee producers and enthusiasts are available. Their coffee bags can also be found in many places around town.

Caferania

From his farm, José expresses his passion for specialty coffees and professing. One can find his coffee in so many stores, not only in taste but also from the farm, where he also offers experiential tours, which goes beyond a simple experience.

Riverside Ecoliving

It is his passion-a full day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.-to give what he believes, with the thoughts of a small amount of international experts, was considered the most beautiful coffee farm in the world. Such a round trip gives an on-hand experience in what is enjoyed by the mule train paths. You can learn how to make good coffee and find out the story of coffee culture. Here at Riverside, all residents are always provided with a special and sustainable coffee.

Casa Arte Restaurant Bar Café

In a site full of art and smiling faces, it gets a developed offer of coffee in which the main characters are the farmers. Yolanda welcomes everyone who comes to the place along with Dairo and she teaches us the tradition of our much-desired coffee. It offers desserts and bread buns; it is very close to everything and offers a perfect place for remote work.

Café Don & Rafa Café Karlina

Also, Sandra and Susana themselves organize unique experiences that these business families deal with. With excellent organization and expert preparation, these businesses bring life to town, allowing you to have a great cup of coffee on their farms and in their coffee plantations, while making life in town kind and peaceful.

La Danta y La Nutria

La Danta y La Nutria is an enticing café in Jericó where love for coffee is blended with love for reading. Its coziness is in the small size and elaborate design of the place, which gives a novel experience since it is located right in the middle of a bookstore.

The Saturia Café

Juan and Maria, the pioneers of espresso coffee in town, serve among a cozy and warm setting. Tour options and bags of different origin coffee really show off this new era beginning for the coffee traders and baristas in the region.
